Maritime Museum

It makes its home in the former Hobart Public Library which is today known as the Carnegie Building and has tons of documents and manuscripts related to voyages taken throughout the maritime history of the area. Salamanca Place
This is definitely the spot to go if you want to see & do things in Hobart which embrace the creative arts. It used to be the place where early colonial settlers made jam. There was also a metal foundry and a flour milling in the area. Today the area, which consists of a row of magnificent sandstone warehouses, is where you will find a most vibrant atmosphere and welcoming home to all of the creative arts. There are craft and art galleries as well antique furniture and bookshops, all to be enjoyed by both the native and those just passing through town on vacation.
Constitution Dock
The area has been redeveloped and old warehouses now house fabulous cafes, shops, and restaurants. This is also the spot where the yachts and fishing boats dock. In addition, it serves as the finish line for the annual Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race that is always a major attraction drawing people from all over Australia for this very popular thing to see and do in Hobart every summer. You can also find the very unique restaurant, The Drunken Admiral, at Constitution Dock.
Hunter Street
This is one of the newest things to see & do in Hobart. It has become the latest and greatest locale for art and culture in Hobart. It was formerly home to the Jones & Co. IXL jam factory and today is still lined with old colonial warehouses. And if it is in your budget, as a visitor you may consider staying at the famed Henry Jones Art Hotel which is also here.
